Get paid to spread the stoke of surfing!! Highest pay in the industry plus high tip potential, staff perks, and pro deals. Lessons primarily take place in Wrightsville Beach, with occasional lessons in Surf City, and Figure Eight Island.
Surf Instructors will be responsible for daily lesson set up and break down, surfing instruction,logistical support, lesson equipment management, and any duties assigned. Most importantly, Surf Instructors must ensure that all staff and participants stay safe while having an awesome and life-enriching experience. No surf instruction experience is required for this position as all selected candidates will go through our comprehensive, in-house training and certification program, but you must be a proficient surfer.
Minimum Qualifications
-Minimum 2 years of College
-At least 20 years of age
-Must be in excellent physical condition + able to life 50 lbs unassisted
-Must be able to pass a 500 meter open ocean swim test
-Current certifications (upon beginning of staff training): CPR and First Aid
-Must have at least 3 years surfing experience
-Must be able to attend mandatory staff training
-Willing to work long hours while maintaining energy and stamina
-Strong communication, decision making, logistical, and organizational skills
-Able to pass a government background check
-Reliable vehicle capable of transporting multiple surf boards
-Clean driving record
-Cell phone
-Reliable and punctual team player
Staff responsibilities are listed below but may not be limited to this list:
-Arrive at every lesson on time in proper Surf Camp uniform
-Implement curriculum with energy + consistency
-Lesson setup and breakdown responsibilities
-Conduct ongoing supply and equipment inventory
-Organize, supervise and participate in all ground schools, including providing proper behavior management of participants.
-Attend all scheduled staff meetings with the leadership team
-Participate in team meetings to go over any participant issues, logistics and schedule
-Complete all pre and post lesson tasks, including but not limited to lesson paperwork, calling participants prior to lesson, and preparing supplies and inventory
-Put participant needs before own; get to know each participant, make them feel welcome and accepted
-Serve as positive role model, display maturity, responsibility, flexibility, and sound judgment
-Oversee participants’ safety
-Communicate in a professional manner
