It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our friend and longtime local surfer, Mike Duncan. Mike’s spirit, his smile, and his love for the ocean left a mark on everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed in Wrightsville Beach and far beyond.
Mike was a true force in the world of action sports, dedicating his life to building and strengthening the communities he loved. He was the founder of WarehouseSkateboards.com, a founding member of the Board Retailers Association, and the visionary behind Sage Island, where his creativity and leadership helped shape countless businesses. A marketing pioneer, respected entrepreneur, and beloved businessman, Mike’s ability to blend passion with innovation left an indelible impact on the industries he touched.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mike was first and foremost a lover of all things surfing and skating. His energy, his style on a skateboard, and his willingness to share stoke made him a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration to so many. His presence in the surf and skate community was more than just participation—it was leadership, vision, and heart.
At the center of his world was his beloved wife, Jennifer. Together they built a life full of love, adventure, and support, one that reflected the same passion and warmth Mike carried into every part of his life.
Mike will be remembered not only for his business accomplishments but for the way he lived—with joy, generosity, and a deep love for the people and communities around him. His legacy will continue to inspire, and his memory will always ride with us.
We will gather for a Paddle Out Memorial to celebrate Mike’s life and the joy he brought to our community:
